Data analysis is in hot demand and offers career opportunities across a large range of industries, which allows for greater flexibility and security in this competitive job market. Regardless of your background, if you master these 5 skills, you will be equipped to transition into a data analyst role.

1. Excel

Although Excel may seem pretty basic since most people have used it in school, it actually has powerful features that the majority have not learned. If you’re only doing data entry in Excel, you haven’t utilized it’s full potential. Excel can help you quickly clean, analyze, and visualize small datasets and is a great tool for one-off analysis. I use it quite frequently in my role and it helps to be proficient in the tool.
